Empowering Student Assistants: The SHK Council Advocates for Your Rights!

The SHK Council, consisting of up to seven members, is elected by all students at FH Aachen. The council is elected annually, with half of its members serving a two-year term in alternating years. In total, the SHK Council addresses the concerns of approximately 750 student assistants currently employed as HiWis or WiHis at FH Aachen.

The main objective of the SHK Council is to answer your questions, address concerns, and act as your representative in all work-related matters. Whether you have inquiries about contracts, working conditions, or changes to agreements, the SHK Council is here to help. They work closely with you and the university administration to ensure the protection of your rights and the recognition of your contributions.

However, the mission of the SHK Council goes beyond mere representation. They actively monitor labor laws to ensure fair treatment and compliance with regulations. Their goal is not only to intervene when necessary but also to create an environment that fosters your potential and imparts valuable skills. The SHK Council aims to amplify the voices of student assistants within the university, serving as a reliable point of contact for any questions, concerns, or issues you may have.

The recent elections took place in May, but it's never too late to get informed! Next year, you will once again have the opportunity to choose the fellow students who will represent you. As students, you have the power to cast your votes and shape the future of the SHK Council. Moreover, you can also nominate yourself as a candidate for the elections next year.
